Diagnosing heart conditions: Interpret diagnostic tests such as cardiac catheterizations, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), echocardiograms, and stress tests to evaluate a patient's cardiovascular health.
Performing interventional procedures: Use catheters to perform procedures like angioplasty and stent placement to open narrowed or blocked arteries.
Emergency care: Respond to and treat emergencies such as heart attacks (myocardial infarction) by performing life-saving procedures to restore blood flow.
Structural heart interventions: Repair or replace heart valves and close congenital heart defects (e.g., atrial septal defects) using catheter-based techniques.
Peripheral vascular interventions: Treat conditions affecting blood vessels outside the heart, such as carotid or peripheral artery disease, using angioplasty and stenting.
Patient management: Provide pre- and post-procedure care, manage patient medications, and track recovery. |
