Description
There is currently one permanent, whole-time Senior Medical Scientist (ICPCD) vacancy within the Point of Care Testing (POCT) Department, Laboratory Medicine Department, Cork University Hospital (CUH). A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign from which current and future permanent and specified-purpose vacancies, of full-time or part-time duration, may be filled.
Purpose of the Post
The Senior Medical Scientist will work as part of the multidisciplinary Point of Care Testing (POCT) team to deliver, develop, and support POCT services within Cork University Hospital and across the Integrated Care Programme for the Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease (ICPCD).
The post holder will contribute to the coordination, development, and delivery of high-quality, patient-centred services, working collaboratively with relevant clinical and operational stakeholders. The role includes the delivery of clinical and educational duties as required to support service objectives.
Reporting Relationships
The post holder will:
Report to the Chief Medical Scientist (POCT) for all operational and line management matters
Be accountable to the Clinical Leads or their designate within Laboratory Medicine for all clinical matters
Post-Specific Requirements
Demonstrated strong knowledge of ISO 15189 accreditation standards and Quality Management Systems
Proven ability to work independently and effectively as part of a small multidisciplinary team
