Description:
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality consultant-led Rheumatology and General Medicine services
Provide inpatient and outpatient rheumatology care
Participate in the general medical on-call rota
Lead and supervise NCHDs involved in patient care
Ensure care delivery is evidence-based, timely, and patient-centred
Contribute to and comply with the Clinical Directorate Service Plan
Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service development
Lead and support education and training of junior doctors and multidisciplinary staff
Engage in performance review and appraisal processes
Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Ensure compliance with Medical Council, HSE, and legislative requirements
Support service reconfiguration and healthcare reform initiatives as required
Eligibility Criteria
Professional Qualifications
Registration as a Specialist in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine
Registered on the Specialist Division of the Medical Council of Ireland
Health & Character
Must be medically fit to carry out duties
Must be of good character
Age
Candidates not classified as new entrants must be under 65 years at the closing date
Skills & Competencies
Strong clinical expertise in Rheumatology and General Medicine
Excellent leadership and team management skills
Effective communication and organisational skills
Ability to manage workload, deadlines, and multiple priorities
Commitment to patient dignity, safety, and quality care
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
Contract & Terms
Tenure: Permanent, Whole-Time
Working Week: 37 hours
On-call / Roster: As per service requirements
Probation: 12 months (if applicable)
Pension: Pensionable HSE post
