Description:
The post holder will act as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist and provide a full range of anaesthesia and critical care services, including:
Core Clinical Duties
Peri-operative anaesthesia (pre-op, intra-op, post-op)
ICU / Critical Care medicine
Management of high-risk and emergency cases
Airway management, regional and general anaesthesia
Participation in on-call rota
Service Context
Department of Anaesthesiology includes:
10 Consultant Anaesthesiologists
10 NCHDs
Facilities include:
7-bed adult ICU
4-bed Coronary Care Unit
5 operating theatres
Dedicated ICU anaesthesia cover
Pre-operative assessment clinics
Additional Responsibilities
Teaching and supervision of NCHDs, nurses, and allied health professionals
Participation in clinical governance, audit, research, and quality improvement
Multidisciplinary collaboration
Compliance with HSE, Medical Council, and ethical standards

Temporary / Specified Purpose
Whole-time, pensionable
One-year tenure (or as specified at appointment stage)
Probation: 6 months (extendable)
