About the Role
As a Social Care Worker, you will play a key role in promoting the wellbeing, independence, and quality of life of residents within a residential disability service. The role involves providing personal care, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, developing life skills, and enabling meaningful participation in community and social activities.
Role Requirements
Qualifications and Registration
A degree-level qualification in Social Care, Social Studies, Nursing, Youth and Community Studies, Social Work, or another relevant discipline
CORU Registration:
Registered with the Social Care Workers Registration Board (CORU)
Or
Hold a CORU-approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration
Or
Have submitted an application for CORU registration under Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (as amended)
(Evidence of registration or application will be required)
Experience and Skills
Minimum of 6 months’ experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities
Experience supporting individuals with complex needs is highly desirable
Strong IT and report-writing skills
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Other Requirements
Availability to work rostered shifts, including evenings, weekends, and waking night duty
Full clean driving licence valid in Ireland and willingness to drive company vehicles
Legal right to work in Ireland with valid work authorisation

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Social Care Worker will:
Support the Person in Charge in the effective operation of the residential service
Deliver person-centred care, aligned with residents’ individual needs, preferences, and goals
Encourage and develop residents’ choice, autonomy, and decision-making, ensuring active involvement of residents and their representatives
Support residents to pursue personal interests, hobbies, and meaningful community participation
Promote and develop self-help, social, and daily living skills, acting as Key Worker for designated residents
Support residents’ health, wellbeing, and personal care needs
Adhere to all organisational policies, procedures, and codes of practice
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, including incident reporting, investigation, and risk management
Ensure the safe use and maintenance of equipment and report faults promptly
Comply with fire safety regulations and emergency procedures
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with records management policies
Manage risk proactively to promote safety, welfare, and quality of life
Safeguard and accurately manage residents’ personal finances and petty cash
Maintain a clean, comfortable home environment and report maintenance issues
Participate actively in staff meetings, training, and service development
Handle confidential information responsibly and professionally
Report concerns immediately to the Person in Charge
Provide cover and flexibility as required to meet service needs
