Details of the Service
The HSE has established six Health Regions, each responsible for the planning, resourcing, and delivery of integrated hospital and community health and social care services. This model supports a more patient-centred approach by aligning community services and hospitals within defined geographical areas.
The HSE Dublin and North East Region provides health and social care services to North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, and most areas of Cavan. Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, located within North Dublin, is a Model 3 major teaching hospital delivering a comprehensive range of acute services, including:
Acute medical inpatient services
Elective surgery
24-hour emergency care
Acute psychiatric services
Intensive care
Diagnostic and support services
Outpatient services
Care is delivered through multidisciplinary teams comprising medical, nursing, allied health professionals, management, administration, and general support staff, who play a key role in the planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of services.
Connolly Hospital is affiliated with:
Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) for medical education
Dublin City University (DCU) for nursing education
University College Dublin (UCD), Trinity College Dublin (TCD), and Institutes of Technology for allied health professional education

Essential Criteria
1. Professional Registration, Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must, by the closing date for applications:
Be registered in the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Register
Or
Be eligible to register in the Advanced Nurse Practitioner Division by meeting the NMBI criteria for registration as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, as specified on nmbi.ie
And
Have a broad base of clinical experience relevant to the advanced field of practice
And
Demonstrate the competencies required for the specialist area of advanced practice
And
Possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability, including a high standard of clinical, professional, and administrative competence, to properly discharge the functions of the role
2. Annual Registration
On appointment, practitioners must:
Maintain live annual registration on the Advanced Nurse Practitioner Division of the NMBI Register
Confirm annual registration with the HSE via completion of the Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)
3. Health
Candidates must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties of the post and be in a state of health that indicates a reasonable prospect of providing regular and efficient service.
4. Character
Candidates must be of good character and suitable for appointment.
