Details of the Service
Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE based on geographical boundaries approved by Government in July 2019. Each Health Region is responsible for population-based planning, resourcing, and delivery of health and social care services, improving accountability, governance, and bringing decision-making closer to frontline services.

Easier to access and navigate
Available closer to home
The HSE South West Health Region is responsible for managing and delivering all public health and social care services across Cork and Kerry, including both hospital and community healthcare services. This region incorporates:
South / South West Hospital Group (S/SWHG)
Cork Kerry Community Healthcare (CKCH)
The Department of Population and Public Health is also aligned with this health region.

Health and social care professionals
Voluntary sector services
Bantry General Hospital provides both acute and residential services to the rural populations of West Cork and South Kerry. The hospital delivers a 24-hour acute medical service, including a Medical Assessment Unit, Acute Medicine, Stroke, and Rehabilitation services. Surgical activity is primarily delivered through planned day-case procedures. The hospital also operates a HIQA-registered residential unit, providing residential, respite, and palliative care services.
Purpose of the Post
To assist in the delivery of high-quality patient care under the supervision and direction of Nursing or other Professional Staff, supporting the safe, effective, and compassionate care of service users.
